Monthly Report #1 - April 2026

Hello all! Welcome to the first Monthly Report! This month's report is of April 2026, and goes over what's new around Goober Brothers.

Recently we began to experiment with new styles of games, one most notably being an April Fools styled game! We had the idea around the middle of March to make an April Fools game, and we both thought it sounded like a great idea, and now we have Dodgem 1½! I'll be telling you how that went alongside the Demo release of Same Samuel this monthly report.

Unfortunately, the day we began work on an April fools game; tons of plans started to show up outside of the internet. So this resulted in us not being able to add as much as we wished to Dodgem 1½. However, we were still incredibly pleased with how it turned out either way!

In order to make the game, it was easier said than done because we had to unfortunately program our own physics engine, and ontop of that we only had about 5 days to make the entire game. So from there we started building up, starting with the intro, main menu, then we went onto making the game itself, running into the problem of the physics engine. After that came the problem of modifiers, thanks to the sloppy engine this ALSO was easier said than done. We made use of clones and plentiful variables whilst staying as optimized as possible. Eventually, we overcame the main problems and successfully made the game as best as we could! You can go play it if you haven't already.

Next up, a game I'm sure not many of you have heard of before, Same Samuel! This is one of my passion projects since around 2023-ish or so, making it as one of my first ever games! So when we started up Goober Brothers, obviously, we needed GAMES! So, I decided to release our first ever game! Before I did this, I added a few cherries on top like achievements and a menu, but this was EXTREMELY sloppy. So I ended up taking it off of the Goober Brothers page, and took heavy amounts of time to master my craft and remaster the game as a whole! I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and you can all go play the demo right now!

Other than that, everything during March was surprisingly pretty productive and great! The next Monthly Report will be May 2026! Mark your calendars...
